Open days
It's great to gather all kinds of information on a school through their website, but of course if you really want to get the feel of the place, you have to go there yourself. You can do just that at one of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam's open days.
There are open days for everyone, such as the open day for all programmes, including the international studies.
During the open day, you can take a tour of the school, attend a trial class, and ask any questions you might have about who we are and what we do. Teachers as well as students will be present to answer your queries.
At the end of the day, you should have a good impression of the program you want to attend, the teachers, your fellow students and, of course, your new study home. And if you're still making up your mind, it could be just those things that tip the balance.
You might also want to consider our Language and Education Transfer Year. Non-Dutch students who have already obtained their diploma at a school abroad and want to join one of the programmes at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam can register with the Language and Education Transfer Centre (TSOC). Once they have completed this programme, they will get a so-called TSO diploma, which guarantees them access to any one of the dozens of study programmes offered by the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. In addition, students can take advantage of the collaborations set up with the University of Amsterdam in transferring to university-level education.
Studying in a city such as Amsterdam is a unique experience. Amsterdam's wide range of educational institutions make it a college town, where students are well integrated. It is an old city with a delightful historic centre that is still largely made up of 17th century buildings and canals.
Amsterdam is the centre of cultural life in Holland with dozens of museums, including the renowned Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, theatres and music venues. A traditional city with modern manners; there's never a dull moment in Amsterdam.
Because it is a lively cosmopolitan capital where everyone is at ease with other cultures and languages, a period of study in Amsterdam can be the most rewarding part of many students' educations.
