FAQ’s
Q: Who are DUO and Studielink, and what do they have to do with the AUAS/HvA?
A: Studielink is the national enrolment system for university and applied university students in the Netherlands. You use Studielink to arrange your enrolment for physiotherapy at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS/HvA). DUO is the executing agency of the ministry of education, culture and science. Among other tasks they take care of the process of notification, selection and placement of lottery studies in higher education. DUO has the final decision on whether or not you receive a placement. Carefully follow all instructions you receive from DUO and take good care to meet their deadlines.
Q: I have a problem with Studielink, what should I do?
A: Consult the FAQ first! http://info.studielink.nl/en/
Q: I am trying to enroll with Studielink, but I can’t select “physiotherapy”.
A: Use the drop down menu "Study programme name (institution)", don't use "Study programme name (national)" Select "Physiotherapy (ESP)".
Q: How can I select ESP / English program when I register in Studielink?
A: You can’t do that in Studielink. Please send an e-mail to esp@hva.nl to inform us that you are interested in the ESP program.
Q: Can I apply for both the English and the Dutch program?
A: No, you can only apply once, and therefore you have to make a choice.
Q: Studielink sent me a message, saying that I have to do a Dutch language test. Why is that?
A: The enrolment procedure for the Dutch en English physiotherapy programs are the same in Studielink. Studielink doesn’t “know” that there is also an English program. The Dutch language test requirement doesn’t apply to you, you can ignore this message.
Q: I got this in an email from Studielink: “A language test is no longer required for the study programme below. This message concerns the following study programme: Study programme title Fysiotherapie - Opleiding tot Fysiotherapeut.“ What does that mean?
A: The English language test is still required, however, we have informed DUO that you’ve passed it. What they mean is that you now meet the requirement.
Q: I have received a letter in the post from DUO. It says I may not be eligible because I have not yet sent a copy of my previous diploma, I have however already sent one to the AUAS/HvA. Do I have to send another?
A: You have to e-mail a copy of your diploma to esp@hva.nl. You also need to post a certified copy of your diploma to DUO. Send it before June 23rd 2012.
Q: I have received a card “Verlate inzending” from DUO. What does it mean, and what should I do with it?
A: “Verlate inzending” means that you are late with sending a copy of your diploma to DUO. If you haven’t received your diploma yet (because you still have to graduate), you should send the card to DUO before June 23rd 2012

Q: Is the intake day on March 31 2012 possible over skype/internet?
A: Only for non-European students who are not able to come to Amsterdam.
Q; Am I able to work outside Europe?
A: Yes, but in some countries additional requirements are applicable.
Q: Can I choose for the accelerated program on forehand?
A: No. After the first semester according to your results it will be decided if you can accelerate your program.
Q: How many students are you taking this year for the ESP programme? If you apply is it for sure that you will be taken on?
A: There are in total 450 places available for both the English and Dutch version of the Physiotherapy programme. We expect more applicants than places, therefore the places are allocated via a lottery system. 135 of the 450 places will be allocated through a decentralised selection procedure in which the AUAS/HvA selects the candidates that they deem most suitable. Applicants who don't get selected for one of the 135 places, will automatically enter the centralised lottery system for the remaining 315 places, and have a second chance there. For those remaining places there are also more applicants than places. We will not speculate on the chances of being selected through either of the two methods. Neither do we give information about the number of applications received.
Q: Is it necessary to register in the Netherlands when I study at the ESP?
A: Yes, see for more information this link (http://www.international.hva.nl/study/registration-municipality).
