Application to the IDEE programme

• I have completed my secondary education in Holland.

If you have a Dutch school certificate (VWO, HAVO, MBO level4) you can enter the Regular English programme at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS/HvA). To be admitted to the IDEE programme however, you also need to pass an entrance exam. See below for details of the IDEE entrance exam

• I have a non Dutch school certificate - but I live in Holland.

If you have a secondary school qualification which is recognized in the Netherlands as being equivalent to the ‘Dutch HAVO’  you can apply to be admitted to the IDEE programme. (you can get your certificate validated by the AUAS/HvA 'Diplomawaardering' department). You will need to send us your CV, a motivation letter, copies of all your degrees and your contact details. If you live in the Netherlands you should take the IDEE entrance exam- see details below. If you pass this exam you will need to sit a further exam and attend an interview. If you do not live in the Netherlands and cannot sit the entrance exam you will need a minimum result of 7.0 on the IELTS test or 580 in the TOEFL test (237 for the computer-based test). TOEFL results must include a minimum score of 4.5 for the TWE (Test of Written English). You are also eligible to enter with a Grade B in the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or pass in Cambridge Proficiency of English (CPE).

IDEE entrance Exam

The IDEE Entrance Exam tests your reading comprehension and use of English. The exam consists of multiple choice or on-word answers. The level is equivalent to IELTS 6.5. The best way to prepare for the exam is to read widely in English, especially quality newspapers and magazines. The exam lasts 90 minutes and is offered four times a year at 10 o'clock on the following dates:

• Friday 16 December 2011
• Friday 10 February 2012
• Friday 11 May 2012
• Friday 22 June 2012

You should note that you will only be admitted to the exam if you produce a valid ID. To register for the exam please mail Sabine van der Heijden (IDEE@hva.nl) to say when you want to attend and what you previous education is. There are no costs attached. To send in your application pack for Non-Dutch degrees or ask any questions you can also mail IDEE@hva.nl
