The Student Community Babylonix

Babylonix is the international student network of the School of Economics and Management at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam. Babylonix provides a platform for students to get involved in social activities, build networks and make the most out of their study experience. Besides arranging events for students, the Babylonix Buddies support new international students to find their way into the study-life at the International Business School. The HES Investment Club

Founded in 2010 by the students Thijs Luijf and Tobias de Koning, the HES Investment Club (HIC) aims to provide students with basic knowledge of private investing and an insight in the real world of business (especially financial institutions). 

The HIC is mostly active within the International Business School of the AUAS/HvA. Our meetings are held in the Fraijlemaborg location of the AUAS/HvA and most of our members are studying at this location.

The core of the HIC is the strategic investment game integrated on the homepage, which is connected to live trading prices, but leaves out costs for spreads etc. to give students the possibility to change and improve their strategies. Regarding to the game, the HIC meets regularly to discuss current topics in investing, which influence the market situation.

Furthermore, the club invites guest speakers from financial institutions to speak primarily about their job and current developments in the investment field. The HIC also organizes national and international field trips to investment and other financial companies and institutions e.g. the stock exchanges. 

The club welcomes any student of the AUAS/HvA or the UvA to register without any charge as a member of our club. At the moment registration is not possible when you are not a student at either of these institutions. Interested members can register at www.hesinvestmentclub.com and completing the form.

The e-Commerce Research Cafe

The eCRC was founded in the summer of 2011 by the Marketing lecturer Dr. Adriana Krawczyk and the IBMS student Steffen Vollert. In cooperation with the research group Online Ondernemen from the Center for Applied Research & Management (CAREM) it is the central objective of the club to educate students on relevant topics around online business.

Besides guest lectures from professionals, company visits and tool trainings, we also offer students the possiblity to write their thesis in the frame of a research project. The proactive and curious atmosphere among our club members create a dynamic learning process. Students are welcome to initiate own projects in the filed of their interest and to team with a lecturer as guiding assistant.
