School of Education

The School of Education at Hogeschool van Amsterdam offers a variety of programmes in the field of teacher education and pedagogics. The School has a prominent role in a wide range of educational innovations that are carried out in close cooperation with schools and other educational institutions. The SoE has almost 4000 students and circa 200 staff members (FTE).

The multicultural and international atmosphere of Amsterdam is an integral part of teaching and learning at the SoE. Although Amsterdam has fewer than a million inhabitants, it is confronted with all the social issues that international and multicultural capitals face in today’s Europe.  The curriculum at the SoE provides both Dutch students and visiting international students with an international outlook on teaching in a changing society. The SoE has a strong focus on urban education and maintains close ties with Dutch and  educational partners and the city of Amsterdam. Its internationalisation policy is closely linked to its profile of an urban and multicultural institution.
