Global Campaign for Education 2009
The action week of the Global Campaign for Education took place from 20-24 April 2009. Students of the School of Education at theAmsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS/HvA) will produced didactic materials to facilitate the use of the Book of Importance in lessons.
World Teachers’ Day 2008
On 3 October 2008, staff members, students and international exchange students of the SoE participated in a seminar at our partner institute Group T Leuven Education College. The theme of the seminar was integrating UNESCO’s Four Pillars of Education into curricula in teacher education.
On 6 October, the Dean of the SoE, Marjan Freriks, commented on the future course of the School of Education and its relation to the surrounding world.
World Literacy Day 2008
On 8 September, SoE-lecturer Adri Menheere gave a lecture, stressing the importance of literacy, both in The Netherlands and abroad. He indicated that 1.5 million people in The Netherlands are not fully literate and outlined the consequences. Student Nick Lagerburg showed how he contributed to achieving literacy in Ethiopia during his placement at a school in Addis Ababa.
