Financial mattersWhen you make the preparations for your stay in the Netherlands it is important to know what kind of expenses you should expect. Information about the tuition or course fees, daily expenses, scholarships, and other financial matters can be found on these pages. |
HousingTo assist international students in finding appropriate accommodation, the HvA cooperates with housing corporations. It is a challenge to find suitable accommodation, and therefore it is important to arrange your accommodation as soon as possible. |
ImmigrationIf you are going to study in the Netherlands as a foreign student, you may need to apply for a Visa ‘Machtiging tot Voorlopig Verblijf’ (MVV) before arrival. An MVV is only an entry document. Once arrived in the Netherlands you will need a Residence Permit (VVR). to make your stay legal. Your MVV application must be handled by the International Office of the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, University of Applied Sciences; you cannot apply for it yourself. |
InsurancePlease check before you come to the Netherlands whether your insurance will cover the complete period of your stay abroad, and what type of coverage you have. |

International officesEach of HvA's seven schools has an International Office. The International Office helps incoming international students to plan their stay in The Netherlands as well as outgoing Dutch students to plan their stay abroad. The International Office can answer all your questions about living in The Netherlands and studying at HvA. They can help you find accommodation in Amsterdam and inform you about grant and scholarship opportunities. |
